Resources

Reasonable accommodations are alterations/changes in the workplace that enable persons with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their jobs and to enjoy equal benefits and privileges of employment. Whether you are a current or prospective employee, you are responsible for requesting a workplace accommodation for a disability.

To request a disability-related accommodation for the application or interview process, contact the ADA Coordinator.

Instructional Resources

Instructors play a pivotal role in the shaping of the learning environment.

In addition to creating courses that fulfill the learning objectives of the department and school, there is an added requirement of creating a course that is not only accessible to students with disabilities, but also incorporate pedagogy that is inclusive to students regardless of background, experiences, and customs. Although focusing on instruction, the resources found on this page may be beneficial to all members of the UVA community.

The mission of the Faculty and Employee Assistance Program is a confidential service offered at no cost to UVA employees. FEAP offers quality, professional, and comprehensive services such as assessment, brief counseling, referral, and follow-up. For employees in supervisory or leadership positions FEAP offers services such as workplace interventions, substance abuse education, and training and mediation services.

The University of Virginia is committed to ensuring that all of its services, programs, and activities are accessible to individuals with disabilities. To that end, the University’s ADA Coordinator has developed these Procedures to ensure that third parties with disabilities, including visitors to the University, know what steps to follow should they need to request reasonable accommodations.
